MS. M. MICHELLE BANKS

Greetings!
As a past Theater Teacher, History Teacher, current Educator, Stage Play Performer, Singer, Poet, Feature News Writer, Fitness Enthusiast, and Creator, I am well aware of the challenges we face today as African Americans. American schools are banning African American Studies from their curriculums, deeming the subject unnecessary. It is my goal, as an active advocate for the black community to assist in deepening and continuing our education of the Black Human experience as necessary. I present from the classroom to the stage my belief that the unnecessary dismissal of the Atlantic Slave Trade, The Three-Fifths Comprise, The Great Migration, The Emancipation, The Civil Rights Movement, Brown vs. Board of Education and Juneteenth from the classroom is an atrocity.
Black History Theater is a non-profit 501 (3C) organization that brings to the community stage the legacies of heroic African American warriors and trailblazers. BHT teaches these stories through theater workshops and presentations of stage play productions. Our goal is to narrow the gap of cultural disharmonies by inviting all races and ages to join in the act of showcasing our stories.
All events are funded by donations and community support (see our events page for a listing of yearly events). Funds support educational programs for diverse communities eager to learn about African American history. Participants gain hands-on experience in film production, including camera work, videography, attend field trips, and participate in a variety of engaging workshops. This is a unique opportunity to explore history through the lens of creative expression. I invite you to experience through Black History Theater Performing Arts, the dynamic culture, civilization and lifetime curriculum of a people who against all odds never give up.
Sincerely,
M. Michelle Banks
